Since this article was written, an account does a great deal more. Signing in opens My Profile, which carries far more detailed statistics than anywhere else in the app: your rating curve, your year of activity, your league, your puzzle themes and your personal records.
More and more of your data now lives in the cloud rather than in your browser's storage, and that difference matters more than it sounds. Browser storage is wiped by clearing your cache, by a private window, by a new phone. Your account is not. Your last report and your last blunder puzzles are kept in the cloud for 14 days, so re-opening them is instant: no refetching your games, and no waiting for Stockfish to analyse them a second time.
